Tradition
Last year we began a new tradition.
I bought this tree
and before December begins we fill all of the drawers with things we want to do each day up until Christmas.
I pre-make a scrapbook and we fill the pages with words and photos of our Christmas season.
We love 'doing' things, making memories, and having a book already made makes it easy to record what we've done.
I will upload photos of our book later, but for the record, and since the month is half over, this is what we have filled our days with.
24 days until Christmas... write letters to Santa
23 read a Christmas story... three trees
22 go for hot chocolate... we followed this with a family viewing of Rudolph
21 make a gingerbread house
20 buy our Christmas tree
19 decorate our tree
18 deliver cookies... well, we made them, but they all ended in our tummies! We'll have to try this one again!
17 read a story... kids Christmas books
16 sing carols... I wanted to do this when we delivered cookies, we did it tonight as we went to look at the lights
15 watch a Christmas movie and eat dinner in the family room. We watched Charlie Brown Christmas and ate Wegmans subs. The kids LOVE being able to eat in the TV room... never happens... that's what makes this so special!
14 make a snowman... it has been icy cold, not good snowman weather. I think we'll have to craft some!
13 go see lights... there is this house in Kenmore that does the synced up light show with an FM radio feed. We went and saw it... very cool! This is the house although the video is from 2006, much cooler now. My favorite part was "the leg lamp" from "A Christmas Story" that kept lighting up in the upstairs window! Funny! Here is a link. O cried the whole time and that put a little bit of a damper on things, but we still did it! We'll be able to tease him about when he's older!
My cute man spent time yesterday showing his love for me by picking up my treadmill. We bought a used one from a gym. I prefer to run outside, but we have some crazy weather here and I hate missing a run. Finally after many years of marriage I have a treadmill! The thing weighs a few hundred lbs and we owe a big thanks to Shawn and Ryan for helping us. We got it down in the basement only to find that the outlet wasn't suitable for the plug. Nice. Matt made it happen for me and changed it all out. I took her for a test drive and all works well. It is very nice to have it for backup! Thanks babe. I REALLY appreciate it.
