Anniversary... 15 years

They have arrived!!!
Last post I mentioned the story of me wasting my time looking at jewels!  I ordered, they arrived, I am in loooove!
Happy Anniversary to me!!!

This one is smokey quartz with white emerald surround.  The gold is something newer, can't remember the name, but it's has sort of a pink to it.  Did I say LOVE?

This isn't the best photo of this one, sorry!  This is amethyst w/ tiny diamond surround.  Yes, I did say that I already have two rings and one bracelet in amethyst, but they don't look like this, they look more handcrafted, just a different style.  I love the cut of this stone...

This is my first time buying my birthstone, which is peridot.  The center stone is cintrine and they peridot is surrounding it.  I've got to say in all of my years living I've not found anything I'm in love with featuring my birthstone, why is August shafted in all ways?  Can't we at least have a cool birthstone?  Whatevs, I found this and I do super love!  The green takes on the yellow and it works...

Still waiting for my final anniversary gift.  I ordered a new photog bag.  I want it before this weekend.  I have another wedding....

Let me go back, since I've not written anything about our actual anniversary.  It was September 6.  This is year 15 for us!

I had gotten a voucher for free babysitting from cute Ginger for my birthday, just a few weeks prior.  I decided to use that for our anni.  I didn't tell M about it, thought I'd surprise him.

Well just a couple of nights prior to magical anniversary day, husband and I had a disagreement of the large kind.  We don't 'fight', but as we talk and disagree about things, mostly only big things, we need and take space.  Well, we were still a little 'spaced' the morning of our anni.  In fact I wondered if I should cancel and take a rain check.  Went forward since plans were all made...

I did get a call from him that morning, can't remember why.  He called me again later and realized it was our anni... had totally forgotten.  If you know my husband you know he doesn't not forget dates or events!  He wondered if I'd forgotten since I'd not said anything the first time he'd called.  Nope, I remembered.  He was actually sitting in a meeting and it wasn't until they said the date that he went into 'the weird zone' and wondered if one day had actually slipped by him!  I think our 'space taking' affected it as well.  ANYWAY, this was all a really good set up for my surprise.

I had told M to be home at a specific time for a photo shoot.  He was diligent and arrived.  The girls arrived shortly after and as he scrambled in the door, I'm sure waiting for me to scramble past him, I told him I didn't have a shoot.  That alone was a really good gift!  Our cute sitters came w/ dinner to feed the kids, complete w/ home made cookies (I know right??  who could beat that b-day gift?)

We took off, M still surprised and happy to be leaving our children at home!!!  I had planned to go to our fav Thai place, but M was craving some Texas Roadhouse so we went there.  It was a great dinner, it was good to be together to celebrate.  After dinner we went looking for gifts for both of us.  I actually had gotten him some gifts and they were waiting at home.  Not as extravagant as his, but functionally delightful for him!  I got him a new skillet, new head and tail lights for his bike, and new sunglasses (he misplaced them, or left them in UT).  He was very happy.  That made me feel great!  It's not often that I can sneak one past him.  Fabulous!

It's also amazing that despite differences or certain things we don't agree on, we can still remember that we love each other.  Putting myself aside, and celebrating him made him happy.  He forgot about himself and celebrated me.  Selfishness really is the root of all evil!!!

Here is to many more good years!
